Alford and Meggs

Jane Anne Alford and Max Paul Meggs of Dallas, Texas, were married April 12, 2014, at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas. The ceremony was officiated by Dr. John Fiedler. A seated dinner and dancing followed at Dallas Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Jayne and John Alford of Fort Smith. She is the granddaughter of Mr. James Roy Gates, Jr. of Fort Smith and the late Mrs. Mary Helen Gates, and Mrs. Lorene Alford of Fort Smith and the late Mr. Dale Mayo Alford.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Douglas Meggs of Plano, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Max Howard Smith of Garland, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leroy Meggs of Garland.

For the ceremony, the bride wore a gown designed by Carolina Herrera. The gown featured a modified sweetheart neckline and a trumpet style skirt that flowed into a chapel length train. It was highlighted with covered buttons and also had bands of ivory tulle that crossed at the waistline and continued down the length of the train. A chapel length tulle veil complemented her gown.

For the reception, she wore a second gown, also by designer Carolina Herrera. The sweetheart neckline and fit and flare styled skirt, made of Chantilly lace, were adorned with cut lace and taffeta flowers. It’s fitted body, embellished with crystals and caviar beads, flowed delicately into a tulle sweep train.

Rachel Solley of Neenah, Wisconsin served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Chrissy Mantzuranis, Kristi Manning, Ali Wood and Katie Young, all of Dallas, Beth Crawford and Ashley Pendleton of Austin, Texas and Lana Good of Chicago, Illinois. Junior bridesmaids were Camille and Emily Summers of Dallas.

Justin Arnett of Dallas served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Hayden Godat, Holden Godat, Geoff Eames, Brian Garoutte, James Mantzuranis and Nelson Wood, all of Dallas, Brandon Bachner of Los Angeles, California and John Hurd of San Francisco.

Flower girl was Kennedy Wood of Dallas. Ring bearers were Stephen Summers, Jr. and Hamilton Wood of Dallas. Haley Godat and sister of the bride, Cassandra Alford, attended the guest book. Will Allen, Chris Crosby, Zach Gates and Jason Landry served as ushers. Wedding music was provided by organist Bradley Welch, Dallas String Quartet, and pianist Allan Mesko. Soloists were Jenni Raspberry and Stephen Carrell.

The bride works as a personal assistant in Dallas. The groom is the Regional Sales Director for Texas at The Hartford in Dallas. Following their honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple have made their home in University Park, Texas.
